Newcomer
Michael James Shaw has been cast in the recurring role of Papa Midnite, the Voodoo King of New Orleans in the first season of
Constantine. The character is described as “a formidable magical
adversary for demon hunter John Constantine”. In the comics he
leads a violent street gang and is considered one of the deadliest
sorcerers in Manhattan, and has been both an ally and an enemy to
Constantine, so it will be interesting to see how their relationship
will work.
Djimon
Hounsou played the character in the 2005 movie starring Keanu Reeves
in the lead role.
