Director
Anton Corbijn, A Most Wanted Man, starring the late Philip Seymour
Hoffman opens this weekend's countdown to the top 10 box office hits.
The Melissa McCarthy, and Susan Sarandon lead comedy, Tammy drops to
ninth. Rob Reiner's latest rom-com, And So It Goes, starring Michael
Douglas, and Diane Keaton opens in eighth place. Michael Bay's
Transformers 4 continues it's rise to the top, and it's just less
than 40 million away from that billion bucks. Director Jake Kasdan's
comedy Sex Tape takes a small dive from fourth to sixth, as did
Planes: Fire & Rescue, which went from third to fifth. The
action/horror sequel, The Purge: Anarchy, starring Frank Grillo
stumbles out from the top three and sits in fourth.
Director
Matt Reeve's Dawn of the Planet of the Apes, already surpassed it's
production budget, but hasn't made sequel money yet. Fingers crossed.
Brett
Ratner's adaptation of the comic book Hercules: Thracian Wars had a
mild to lower opening. Hercules stars Dwayne Johnson, Ian McShane,
Rufus Sewell, Joseph Fiennes, Peter Mullen, John Hurt, Rebecca
Ferguson, Ingrid Bolsø Berdal, Askel Hennie and Reece Ritchie.
And
in first is Luc Besson's sci-fi action flick, Lucy starring Scarlett
Johansson, and Morgan Freeman. In Lucy, Johansson is accidentally
caught in a dark deal who turns the tables on her captors and
transforms into a merciless warrior evolved beyond human logic.
