Last
week 20th
Century Fox announced a list of future releases and among them was an
untitled Ridley Scott project. At the time we questioned if it was
going to be the Blade Runner sequel that has been in developing for
years or the Prometheus sequel. Well it's official, the untitled
project is indeed Prometheus 2.
One
(or the only one) of the things people, including yours truly,
complaint about Prometheus was the script, which was atrocious, so to
prevent further fan outbursts and since Damon Lindelof made it clear
that he wouldn't be returning, a new writer as been brought in to
help Scott, who is now eyeing a fall production start.
Writer
Michael Green, who recently worked with Scott on the upcoming Blade
Runner script has been tapped to rewrite the initial draft written by
Jack Plagen (Transcendence).
The
film has a release date of March 4th,
2016 and at this time its unclear where the sequel is heading. Scott
previously said that the sequel would catch up with the survivors of
the first film, i.e. Noomi Rapace's Elizabeth Shaw and a body-less
David (Michael Fassbender) in the Engineers' home world but it's
possible that all the bad reviews from the first movie have taken
their toll on the original plans for the sequel.
The
first movie had some identity crisis that I hope will be more than
fixed by the time production starts on the sequel, and for god sakes
Ridley give some motivation to the characters, pleaseeeeee!
