Next to The Blacklist, Almost Human is my favorite new series. The show began strong and despite the expected initial drop in the ratings it has remained somewhat stable. The sci-fi buddy cop action/drama gets its quality credentials from the dynamic between Michael Ealy’s Dorian the android police officer and Karl Urban’s Detective John Kennex characters and from its intriguing story, despite the fact that its main plot has been overlooked by the showrunners giving way to a more procedural type of storytelling, or so I thought.
It has landed on my ears that Fox
has been rearranging the episodes order (for what purpose beats me) so what we are
seeing is not actual order of things, and this would explain why sometimes an
episode tells its own isolated tory while other times we see Kennex trying to
come to terms with his girlfriend betrayal, being ambushed, losing his partner
and his leg.
Below is the episode list in the
order they aired and in parenthesis is the order they should have come out.
1 – Pilot (1)
2 – Skin (5)
3 – Are You Receiving? (6)
4 – The Bends (7)
5 – Blood Brothers (8)
6 – Arrhythmia (3)
7 – Simon Says (10)
8 – You Are Here (2)
9 – Unbound (9)
10 – Perception (4)
11 – Disrupt (11)
12 – Beholder (12)
13 – Straw Man (13)
Via his twitter feed, showrunner
J.J. Wyman talked about the issue saying “it’s okay that they are out of order
for the first 7 or so”.
What do you think? Bad showrunning?
Necessary?
