Visual Effects Master Phil Tippett Returns For Jurassic World

Jurassic World is almost set to start production next year, and now director Colin Trevorrow announces that he is adding a veteran to the team, the dinosaur supervisor from Jurassic Park, Phil Tippett.

In Jurassic Park, Tippett was hired to be the visual effects supervisor and work his magic with stop-motion animation, but after Spielberg being convinced, especially after seeing Terminator 2, that CGI would produce what he wanted, Tippett was re-hired to be the dinosaur supervisor because of his extensive knowledge of animal motion and behavior.

You might have seen some of Tippett’s work in such movies as Star Wars, The Empire Strikes Back, Indiana Jones and the Temple of Doom, RoboCop and The Twilight Saga to name only a few.

Tippett was nominated six times for an Academy Award, wining two for Star Wars: Return of the Jedi and Jurassic Park.

Jurassic World is not a remake or a reboot; it’s simply a continuation of the franchise. The film has been described as “a new sci-fi terror adventure” that takes place 22 years after the events of the first film. So far only Bryce Dallas Howard, Nick Robinson, and Ty Simpkins have been confirmed to star in the film with Chris Pratt being eyed to star in a lead role.

Jurassic World opens in June 12, 2015.
