Last
night’s SNL episode hosted by actor Edward Norton had a little parody with the holyday
season in mind and director Wes Anderson’s distinctive visual style. The show aired a trailer for a fake Wes Anderson
horror film titled The Midnight Coterie of Sinister Intruders, which applied
the director unique visual and directorial style to the horror movie genre and
had Norton doing an uncanny impression of Owen Wilson and Alec Baldwin making a
cameo as the film’s narrator.
The
trailer was so spot on to Anderson’s style and pace, meshing Moonrise Kingdom,
Fantastic Mr. Fox and The Royal Tenenbaums that although entertaining and
amusing it wasn’t SNL-esq enough and failed to deliver the big laughs.
The
rest of the SNL cast resigned itself to do cameos of the director’s most famous
characters, like the Twins from The Royal Tenenbaums, a smoking Gwyneth
Paltrow, Danny Glover and Anjelica Huston.
Here
is the SNL trailer for The Midnight Coterie of Sinister Intruders and Anderson’s
latest film, The Grand Budapest Hotel, which opens on March 7, 2014.
