George Lucas Spent A Year Developing Star Wars: Episode VII

About a year ago George Lucas made headlines when it was announced that he had sold his company LucasFilm to the Walt Disney Company for a reportedly 4 billion dollars, which is ironic since he created LucasFilm to have control over his films and not have the “Man” looking over his shoulder, but regardless of that, now that he sold the company he occupies his time as being a “creative consultant” in the new batch of Star Wars films that are starting to come our ways, beginning with J.J. Abrams Star Wars: Episode VII, or is he?

According to his son Jett Lucas in an interview to YouTube channel Flicks and the City, Lucas had spent about a year prior to the sale to Disney, developing the new Star Wars saga.
“He was very torn on the matter,” said Jett Lucas “He’s happiest when he’s writing and doing something with his time.”

When asked if Lucas was keeping an eye over the next with Star Wars installment, Jett replied: “Yeah, as any parent watching their kid going to college would. He’s constantly talking to J.J. [Abrams, director of Episode VII]. Obviously J.J. was handpicked. He [Lucas] is there to guide, whenever, he’ll help where he can. At the same time, he wants to let it go and become its new generation.”

Jett then decided that it would be cool to maybe drop a hint here and there:
“I’m happy with what’s going to happen… I would like to see [Episodes VII-IX] following a new generation. I’m not saying that’s what happens, I’m saying that’s what I would like… because to me these movies are about the next generation as the prequels are about a new generation and the originals were for that generation… I think following a new generation and a new group of heroes and villains will – [pause] I think that’s the right move to make.”

Whatever happens with the new Star Wars installment, let’s hope it turns out better than the previous reboot and no more Jar Jar.
