With
Maleficent coming up next year, starring Angelina Jolie as the titled character
and villain, Disney is looking to expand on their live action classic villains
solo movies with another iconic villain, Cruella De Vil from the 101 Dalmatians
story.
Cruella
was created by Dodie Smith in 1956 in The Hundred and One Dalmatians book. She was
later on voiced by Betty Lou Gerson in Disney’s classic 1961 animation and
later on was played by Glenn Close in the 1996 live action adaptation of the
book and in the 2000 sequel.
Screenplay
writer Aline Brosh McKenna (The Devil Wears Prada) will be penning the script.
