Warner Bros. CEO, Kevin Tsujihara went on a press conference today to talk about the upcoming Batman Vs. Superman movie, choosing Ben Affleck for the role of Batman and the new partnership with author J.K. Rowling about the “ new film series from Rowling’s world of witches and wizards” that has nothing to do with Harry Potter.
Let’s
begin with Rowling’s wizards and witches. When it was first announced (some
hours ago) that Rowling was going to return to the world of magic with a new
movie franchise, surprisingly opinions got divided really fast. Some were
excited at the prospect, while others criticized the studio and author by
saying that this was just an attempted to make a buck, or millions of them, and
what Tsujihara said in press conference reinforced these critiques, he said
that Rowling’s Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them, won’t just be a movie,
it will also be a video game and an attraction at Universal’s Wizarding World
of Harry Potter.
Now
for Batman Vs. Superman and Ben Affleck. At the press conference, Tsujihara
said that Ben Affleck was perfect for the role (of course) and then he
described a little bit of what we can expect from the dark knight, by saying
that he is “tired, and kind of weary and seasoned”. Tsujihara then talked more
deeply about the whole Affleck thing.
“Ben
is perfect for the vision Zack has for that character. The fact that you saw
such a passionate response in the blogosphere is really kind of a testament to
the love that people have for this character.”
