The
most badass and yet improbable CIA analyst Jack Ryan is back. Tom Clancy’s
novel’s about a CIA analyst who saves America and sometimes the world from war
and total annihilation is back in the form of Star Trek’s Chris Pine.
The
character was first played in the big screen by Alec Baldwin in the 1990’s The
Hunt for Red October, then Harrison Ford picked up the role in 1992 and 1994 in
Patriot Games and Clear and Present Danger, Ben Affleck picked up the mantle in
the 2002’s The Sum of All Fears and now it’s time for Chris Pine to bring the
character back.
In
The Hunt for The Red October, Ryan (Baldwin) stops the American Navy and the
Soviet Navy from sinking the submarine (Red October) because he believes they
are seeking asylum and are not trying to begin a war. He was wright.
In
Patriot Games, Ryan (Ford) stops the assassination of the Secretary of State
for Northern Ireland. Enraged by their failure and the death of one of their
own, the terrorists track down Ryan to his home and try to kill him. They fail
he wins.
In
Clear and Present Danger, Ryan (Ford) is put in charge of taking down a drug
cartel that is responsible for the death of a friend of the President of the
United States of America. After discovering of a failed black-ops mission to
assassinate the cartel leader, Ryan must travel to Columbia to rescue the
surviving members of the squad. Eventually he fights the leader of the drug
cartel and kills him.
In
The Sum of All Fears, Ryan (Affleck) believing that the Russians are not
responsible for the nuclear strike against the U.S. tries to stop the American
Government from retaliating by finding clues, leads and ultimately proof that a
terrorist organization was behind the attack. He did and they lost.
In
Jack Ryan, Ryan (Pine) is forced to act, after finding out a terrorist plot by
the Russians to crash the U.S. economy. Starring is Chris Pine, Keira Knightley
and Kevin Costner and Kenneth Branagh has both actor and director.
Jack
Ryan opens in the U.K. on December 26 of 2013.
