Captain Planet And The Planeteers Live Action Feature Film At Sony

Wow I’m having a flashback to my younger years. According to HV, Sony is in the final negotiation for the rights of the popular 90’s cartoon series Captain Planet and the Planeteers. Captain Planet was a popular cartoon where five teenagers, each with unique “environmental” abilities (fire, wind, earth, water, air and heart) fight polluters, and if by any chance they were outgunned they combined their powers to call on Captain Planet.

Producers Mark Gordon (Saving Private Ryan), Don Murphy (Transformers Trilogy) and Susan Montford (Real Steel and Splice) are set to start producing once they get the greenlight.

If Sony does get the rights for the adaptation it’s a stroke of genius, because not only does the shows a large fanbase but with the growing concern about protecting the environment and sustainability, one can expect the success of the film.

This news got me thinking about two things:
One do you think Al Gore is going to do a cameo?
Second, did you recycle today?
