1.
Tic-Tok
He
is nº1 on the list because of his significance. He was the first robot to be
called a robot in a book. He appeared in 1907 in L. Franck Baum’s Oz books, 14
years before Karel Capek, “the creator of the word robot” made it popular.
Tic-Tok appeared in some silent movies but was cut of the 1939 version of The
Wizard of Oz with Judy Garland (Dorothy), Frank Morgan, Ray Bolger (Scarecrow),
Bert Lahr (Cowardly Lion), Jack Haley (Tin Man), Margaret Hamilton (Wicked
Witch) and Terry (Toto).
2.
R2-D2 & C-3PO
People
like to divide them whenever there is this type of list, but I think that
because they are a team, a dysfunctional team, but a team, they should be
paired up. Well they are here because they are self-aware, brave and coward,
they are no longer a tool in the movie or a comic relief, and they are
protagonists in the story that is being told. If not for R2 Luke would never
had got the message by the princess and if not for 3PO we couldn’t understand
what R2 was saying.
3.
Robocop
Part
man, but for the most part robot. Classic tale of is he a he or a it.
4.
Replicants
Well,
"Do Androids Dream of Electric Sheep?"
5.
Andrew Martin
A
robot that wants to be a man.
6.
Marvin The Paranoid Android
Well
is just fun, fun, fun. It’s the only robot that I can remember in which you
laugh at. And one of the few that have human type mental problems, it is depressed
and is always me, me, me.
7.
Maria
Because
she is one of the most iconic robots in one of the most iconic sci-fi movies
ever made, Metropolis by Fritz Lang.
8.
Data
Has
with R2-D2 and C3PO he is an important part of the story being told. (personally
not one of my favorites)
9.
Sonny
Because
he is the robot that broke the three laws of robotics, created by the writer of
the series of books I, Robot, Isaac Asimov.
1- A robot
may not injure a human being or, through inaction allow a human being to come
to harm;
2- A
robot must obey the orders given to it by humans, except where such orders would
conflict with the First Law;
3- A
robot must protect its own existence as long as such protection does not
conflict with the First or Second Laws.
10.
Gort
It
can kill with a simple glare.
11.
Transformers
I’m
not going to individualize them all. The premise of the movies only works
because there are lots of them and because they are different in shape, size
and “mentality”.
12.
T-1000
LIVING
METAL!!!!!!
13.
Robby The Robot
Probably
one of the most recognizable robots of all time. It entered in 24 films and
appeared has itself in talk shows and parades.
14.
B-9
If
it ever had a name it was, Class M-3 Model B9, General Utility Non-Theorizing
Environmental Control Robot. Incredible every single robot in film or tv has
some sort of name or abbreviation, not this one, and that is why it is in the
list, also because it was in a great sci-fi show.
15.
ABC Warrior
Just
because... it is a killing machine.
16.
ED-209
It
was basically a robot tank with some faults, “You have 20 seconds to comply”,
1…2…3…4 and everyone dies (he had some bugs).
17.
Johnny 5
He
is a robot on the run from the army, and he saves a girl from an abusive
relationship.
18.
Twiki
First
of all, since we are still in the 21st century it is possible when the 25th
century arrives we will have small robots that accompany us in our adventures.
Second, it is voiced by Mel Blanc.
19.
Doctor Who robots
Although the Dalek is the recognizable one, the
tv show had a lot of robots.
20.
Mechagodzilla
Well………….
IT’S A ROBOT GODZILLA, what more do you need?
