Bros. Has announced that the filming for Jupiter Ascending has begun. Jupiter
Ascending is another science fiction epic adventure by the brothers that brought
us other sci-fi epic adventures like The Matrix Trilogy and more recently Cloud
Atlas, the Wachowski brothers.
Born
under signs of greatness by the night sky’s, Jupiter Jones (Mila Kunis), a
cleaning lady with bad luck, finds herself being targeted by a genetically enhance
ex-military hunter named Caine (Channing Tatum), because her existence
threatens the balance of the cosmos.
Beside Kunis and Tatum, the cast also contains Sean Bean,
Eddie Redmayne, Douglas Booth, Tuppence Middleton, Doona Bae, James D’Arcy and
Tim Pigott-Smith.
The movie is currently being shot at the ex-Harry Potter’s
studio at Leavesden, and will continue there until June, at which time they
will move to Chicago for completition.
The movie is schedule to hit theaters on July 25th
of next year.
The
Wachowski brothers are also working on the Netflix original project, Sense 8
with the Babylon 5 creator JM Straczynski.
Sense8
the new sci-fi show, created by the team of brothers Lana and Andy Wachowski
(The Matrix and Cloud Atlas) and JM Straczynski, the creator of Babylon 5, has
found a home in the internet television network of Netflix. According to
deadline, Netflix has order ten episodes of the series to debut them in late
2014 on Netflix Instant. Ted Sarandos, the chief content officer on Netflix
says that Lana, Andy and Joe are among the most imaginative writers and gifted
visual storytellers of our time. The Wachowski brothers told in an interview
that they always wanted to work with Joe: “We’ve wanted to work with Joe
Straczynski for years, chiefly due to the fact his name is harder to pronounce
than ours, but also because we share a love of genre and all things nerdy,” and
that “Several years ago, we had a late-night conversation about the ways
technology simultaneously unites and divides us, and out of that paradox Sense8
was born.”. Sense8 is described as a “a gripping global tale of minds linked
and souls hunted”.
Sense8
is schedule to hit your streaming video service late 2014.
But
there are more original shows coming up on streaming services, Machinima already
started to work with Director Ridley Scott and RSA (Ridley Scott and Associates) to develop sci-fi shorts that
hopefully should turn into feature length and possibly a franchise.
"With
new media transforming the way audiences connect with films and filmmakers,
Machinima is a great partner for us as we embark on this new model of
delivering original content to fans. It's a tremendous opportunity for pushing
the creative boundaries for both our filmmakers and the audience,"
Scott said in a released statement.
