Westworld star
Thandie Newton is in negotiations to join the cast of Chris Miller and Phil
Lord's upcoming Star Wars spinoff film focused on a young Han Solo to be played
by Alden Ehrenreich.
Also in negotiations
is Fleabag actress Phoebe Waller-Bridge, who reports claim is up for a key
role. Details on whom Newton might be up for are being kept under wraps.
Produced by Kathleen
Kennedy and Allison Shearmur, the spinoff takes place well before the events of
the 1977's Star Wars.
Also starring in the
yet untitled Han Solo film are Donald Glover as Lando Calrissian, Woody Harrelson as
Solo's mentor, and Emilia Clark in an unknown role.
From a script by
Lawrence Kasdan ("Empire Strikes Back"), and his son Jon ("Freaks
and Geeks") the untitled Star Wars spinoff opens in theaters on May 25,
2018.
Newton starts filming
Xavier Dolan's The Death and Life of John F. Donovan in March, and is expected
to return for the second season of HBO's Westworld, which starts filming later
in the year.
