Academy Award Winners
Morgan Freeman and Tommy Lee Jones are teaming up for Villa Capri, an action
comedy from writer and director Ron Shelton ("White Man Can't Jump")
to be produced by Bill Gerber and Steve Richards with the latter's Endurance
Media banner co-financing it alongside eOne.
Described as a
two-hander in the vein of 1988's chase comedy Midnight Run starring Robert De
Niro and Charles Grodin, Villa Capri follows an ex-FBI agent and a former mob
lawyer in the witness protection program who have to put aside their petty
rivalry and team-up to survive a mob hit.
For Shelton, Villa
Capri follows a return to feature filmmaking since his 2003 action comedy
Hollywood Homicide starring Harrison Ford, Josh Hartnett, and Isaiah
Washington.
The writer/director received
an Academy Award nomination for writing the 1989 sports-comedy Bull Durham starring
Kevin Costner and Susan Sarandon.
Freeman will next be
seen reprising his role in the sequel Now You See Me 2, and in the Ben-Hur
remake, while Jones will star alongside Matt Damon in Jason Bourne.
