Goodbye spandex!
Hello plastic jockstrap!
Lionsgate has
released a new group photo of the upcoming big screen reboot of the Power
Rangers featuring the five heroes wearing a less campy and much deserved updated
version of the colorful battle armor they will use to protect themselves when
fighting the villainous Rita Repulsa played by Elizabeth Banks.
On the left we have Becky Gomez as Trini Kwan the Yellow Ranger, and Ludi
Lin as Zack Taylor the Black Ranger. In the center we
have Dacre Montgomery as Jason Lee Scott the Red
Ranger. And on the right we have Naomi Scott as Kimberly Hart the Pink Ranger, and R.J. Cyler as
Billy Cranston the Blue Ranger.
"It’s
tricky finding a new language for a superhero costume," says production
designer Andrew Menzies ("G.I. Joe: Retaliation"). "Ours is an
alien costume that grows on them, that’s not man-made. You can’t win everyone
over, but we are trying to appeal to a more mature audience and gain new
fans."
