Kiersey Clemons has
signed on to star opposite Ellen Page, Nina Dobrev, and Diego Luna in Sony
Pictures' Flatliners, the upcoming remake of the 1990 thriller starring Kiefer Sutherland, Julia Roberts,
Kevin Bacon, William Baldwin, and Oliver Platt.
The Girl With the Dragon Tattoo
director Niels Arden Oplev is attached to direct from a screenplay by Ben
Ripley ("Source Code").
In the '90s movie, Sutherland, Roberts,
Bacon, Baldwin, and Platt, play a group of med-school buddies who in an attempt to discover what awaits us after death concoct a
plan to temporarily "flatline" themselves one at a time, stopping all
brain activity, to briefly experience death before being resuscitated. A number
of them are "killed" and brought back with vivid memories of their
past, and the experiment is deemed a success. However, it seems as though they
may have gotten more than they bargained for when their past literally comes
back to haunt them.
Clemons will play a young medical
student struggling with both her overbearing mother with whom she lives, and schoolwork.
In addition to Dope, Clemons also
stars in the Amazon award-winning series Transparent, and will next be seen in
the sequel, Neighbors 2: Sorority Rising.
