Bryan Cranston To Star In Philip K. Dick Anthology Series

Sony Pictures Entertainment and Channel 4 are co-developing an original drama based on the short stories written by the award winning sci-fi author Philip K. Dick.

The 10-part anthology series, titled Electric Dreams: The World of Philip K. Dick, will be written and executive produced by Ronald D. Moore ("Battlestar Galactica") and Michael Dinner ("Justified"), with Bryan Cranston both starring and executive producing as well.

"This is an electric dream come true," said Cranston. "We are so thrilled to be able to explore and expand upon the evergreen themes found in the incredible work of this literary master."

Each episode of the anthology series will be a self-contained drama adapted and contemporized for the modern global audience by a creative team of British and American writers. The series will both illustrate Philip K. Dick’s prophetic vision and celebrate the enduring appeal of the prized Sci-Fi novelist’s works, which include The Man in the High Castle, A Scanner Darkly, and Do Androids Dream of Electric Sheep?, the novel in which Ridley Scott's Blade Runner is based on.

"As a long-time fan of Philip K. Dick’s work, it’s a tremendous honour and thrill to be part of this series," said Ronald D. Moore. "His short stories are a treasure-trove of material for artists to draw from and I think this will be a very exciting project."

Also executive producing are James Degus ("Sneaky Pete", "SuperMansion"), Isa Dick Hackett ("The Adjustment Bureau"), Kalen Egan ("The Man in The High Castle"), Christopher Tricarico ("The Man in The High Castle"), Maril Davis ("Outlander"), as well as David Kanter ("The Revenant") and Matt DeRoss ("The End of the Tour").

"I'm thrilled to be working with this exceptional team to bring my father's short stories to life," said Isa Dick Hackett. "Often the source for big, high concept feature films, these short stories represent some of the most dazzling conceptual work of his career, and the fact that they will be adapted by such a diverse set of creative voices is truly an honor."

Electric Dream: The World of Philip K. Dick was commissioned for Channel 4 by Jay Hunt, Piers Wenger and Simon Maxwell and will be made by Sony Pictures Television.
