The beautiful city of
Matera in Southern Italy is currently being used by filmmaker Patty Jenkins ("Monster")
to serve as a set for Wonder Woman, Warner Bros.' fourth entry in the DC
Extended Universe.
A
set video from the location has found its way online, and it provides us with a
good look at the set, costumes, and the crew working on a couple of different
scenes.
Other
locations such as the Amalfi coast also in Italy and Southern China will be
used to create the Themyscira or Paradise Island, the home to the Amazons.
Awhile
back Wonder Woman producer Charles Roven revealed that, "Themyscira is influenced by the Greek but it’s clearly
more than that," he said. "It’s a place that has the ‘you’ve never been to’ kind of
feel. But once you’re there you’re not so sure you really want to leave so
fast."
Starring Gal Gadot, Connie Nielsen, Robin Wright, Lisa Loven Kongsli, Chris
Pine, Danny Huston, David Thewlis, Ewen Bremner, Saïd
Taghmaoui, Elena Anaya, and Lucy Davis, Wonder Woman opens
on June 2, 2017.
