In a clear sign of confidence,
Cinemax has decided to renew Robert Kirkman's upcoming supernatural drama Outcast for a
second season.
The network announced
the news at SXSW during the show's panel that it had picked up The Walking Dead's
creator new show for a new season well ahead of its June 3 premiere.
In show Patrick Fugit plays Kyle Barnes, a young man who
has been plagued by demonic possession all his life and now needs answers.
Unfortunately, what he uncovers along the way could bring about the end of life
on Earth.
"Outcast has been a passion project of mine for many years,"
Kirkman said. "Seeing it come together has been a huge thrill for me. What
we’ve been able to achieve on Cinemax, with its unprecedented creative freedom,
frankly, almost scares me at times."

Cinemax original programming
president Kary Antholis also added that "going into the first season
of Outcast, we knew that Robert Kirkman had once again created a
world that would scare us to our core. But what he, Chris Black and the rest of
their team have delivered has exceeded even those high expectations. We believe
our viewers will immediately be sucked into Outcast's intense and
creepy landscape, which is why we have chosen to pick up a second season."
Outcast also stars Reg E. Cathy, Philip Glenister,
Julia Crockett, Gabriel Denman, David Denman, Melinda
McGraw, Grace Zabriskie, Catherine Dent, Lee
Tergesen, Brent Spiner, Gabriel Bateman, Wrenn Schmidt, and Scott Porter.
