CSI star George Eads has
landed a role in the pilot for MacGyver, which is currently being developed
over at CBS TV with Salem and Code Black director David Von Ancken attached to
direct.
More of a reimagining than a
reboot of the mid-80s series, the new show follows a 20-something Angus MacGyver
who is recruited into a clandestine organization where he uses his knack for
solving problems in unconventional ways to help disasters from happening.
Eads
is set to play Lincoln, your typical eccentric conspiracy theorist who just so happens
to work for the government where he acts out his duties with great compassion.
Furious 7 and upcoming Aquaman
director James Wan has been with to the project from its inception, and was at
one point set to direct, however a scheduling conflict with post-production on
The Conjuring 2 forced him out of the director chair and Acken stepped in to
replace him.
Original series creator Lee
David Zlotoff will serve as an executive producer alongside Wan, Henry Winkler,
Michael Clear, and Paul Downs Colaizzo, who wrote the script for the pilot.
