Jackie Earl Haley has
joined AMC's adaptation of Garth Ennis and Steve Dillon's '90s Vertigo comic
book series, Preacher. The Oscar nominated actor will play Odin Quincannon, who
the network describes as "a small, decrepit man with the unscrupulous iron
will necessary to be the most powerful man in Annville County, Texas. The chief
employer in town, Odin runs Quincannon Meat & Power, a 125-year-old family
run cattle slaughterhouse business."
Quincannon will be a
recurring character who will appear in between the sixth and tenth episodes of
the show's first season.
Written, produced,
and directed by Seth Rogen and Evan Goldberg, Preacher
is the story of Jesse Custer (Dominic Cooper), a conflicted preacher in a small
Texas town who is inhabited by a mysterious entity
that allows him to develop a highly unconventional power. Jesse, his ex-girlfriend,
Tulip (Ruth Negga), and an Irish vampire named Cassidy (Joseph Gilgun) embark
on a journey to, literally, find God.
Premiering in May, Preacher also stars Ian Colletti as Arseface, Elizabeth
Perkins as Vyla Quinncannon, Lucy Griffiths as Emily, W. Earl Brown as Sheriff
Hugo Root, Jamie Anne Allman as Betsy Schenck, Derek Wilson as Donny Schenck,
and Tom Brooke as Fiore.
