One of the IFS of
X-Men: Days of Future Past was the addition of Quicksilver to the mutant mix, but
in the end Bryan Singer and screenwriters Jane Goldman, Simon
Kinberg, and Matthew Vaughn were able to smartly integrate him into
the X-Men universe, with the things that could have failed, like the depiction
of his abilities and the promise of the son/father relationship with Magneto becoming his strengths.
Speaking to Details
about his role on FX's American Horror Story: Hotel, Evan Peters offered some
details about Quicksilver's character arc in the upcoming X-Men: Apocalypse,
which though somewhat removed from the main story, certainly is a continuation
from his story in Days of Future Past.
"Ha! No, it’s
not. Although that would be amazing if Apocalypse [the evil mutant] brought
back the dead to help him take over the earth. I love zombies; I can’t get
enough" the actor laughed after the interviewer joked if the next X-Men movie was
be about a zombie apocalypse. "But the story is that my character is
searching for his father and wants to find him. It starts there and then he
jumps on the X-Men train and gets sucked up in this whole Apocalypse madness:
He tries to stop him from destroying the world."
While it is clear
that Quicksilver will side with the good guys in the battle to save the World
from Apocalypse, it will be interesting to see the emotional and dramatic
confrontation between the speedster and his father, Magneto (Michael Fassbender).
Opening on May 27, 2016, X-Men: Apocalypse also stars James
McAvoy, Jennifer Lawrence, Oscar Isaac, Nicholas Hoult, Lucas Till, Rose Byrne,
Alexandra Shipp, Tye Sheridan, Sophie Turner, Lana Condor, Kodi Smit-McPhee,
Olivia Munn, Josh Helman, and Tómas Lemarquis.
