Marvel Has Found A Director For Thor: Ragnarok

Well they found one, they have not signed one.

According to The Wrap, Flight of the Conchords and What We Do in the Shadows filmmaker Taika Waititi is in negotiations with the studio to helm Thor's third solo outing, Thor: Ragnarok. Per multiple reports, Waititi beat out Ruben Fleischer (Gangster Squad, Zombieland), Rawson Marshall (We're the Millers), and Rob Letterman (Monsters vs Aliens).

The choice to go with Waititi may sound strange, but it is in line with a string of decisions Marvel has made regarding directors to helm their projects, like James Gunn (Guardians of the Galaxy), Jon Watts (Spider-Man), or Joe and Anthony Russo (Winter Soldier, Infinity Wars Parts 1 and 2).

The movie comes out on November 3, 2017 so plot details are nonexistent however Ragnarok refers to a universe-ending event in the comics, and that is just perfect considering that the movie comes out just before the first Avengers: Infinity War.

Chris Hemsworth and Tom Hiddleston will return as Thor and Loki for the sequel.
