Amid some controversy
about fan favorite Idris Elba's street-ness for the role, Wolverine star Hugh
Jackman is making everyone know that he could pull off a British accent to play
James Bond, which is not as crazy as it sounds, in fact, according to actor he
was approached years ago to play the famous character.
"At the time I
was just about to do X-Men 2 and I was like, ‘Ah, I don’t think it’s the right
time,'" the actor revealed to The Project, an Australian TV show. However,
years have passed since the initial proposal and Jackman says he would "seriously
consider it", if asked.
Jackman's
availability comes after Bond author Anthony Horowitz stated that he felt Idris
Elba wasn't fit to play the role, saying the actor was "too street"
to play the smooth spy on her majesty's secret service. Horowitz has since explained
his statement, which wasn't racially offensive, just artistically narrow-minded.
Hugh Jackman has the
untitled Wolverine sequel scheduled to premiere in 2017, and he's in talks to
star in The Odyssey.
