It seems Legendary is keen on having King Kong and
Godzilla clash on the big screen. According to a recent report, Legendary
Pictures' Thomas Tull has moved Kong: Skull Island from Universal to Warner
Bros. in an attempt to in the future cross both monstrous franchises. The film would be the
follow-up to the Godzilla sequel that is already in development.
According to Deadline, Legendary is in talks with Toho
the rights holder of Godzilla to make the crossover possible, and the reason why
it is happening is because it's easier to have everything under one roof,
implying that a film featuring both the giant ape and the giant lizard was
always on the horizon.
Brie Larson,
Tom Hiddleston and Corey Hawkins are set to star in director Jordan Vogt-Roberts
upcoming revival of King Kong, which was penned by Max Borenstein, John Gatins, Dan Gilroy, and Derek Connolly.
Toby Kebbell, Samuel L. Jackson, John C. Reilly,
and Tom Wilkinson are reportedly in talks to join the adventure.
Filming is expected to begin in late October for a
March 10, 2017 release.
