After winning a
bidding war over it, ABC has become the proud home for a brand new genre-project created
by Saw IV and Saw V writers Patrick Melton and Marcus Dunstan, and producer
Aaron Kaplan. The network must be pleased with the recent purchase since they have
already committed to a put pilot, i.e. they have just inked a deal that includes
heavy penalties in case they fail to produce or air the pilot.
Set in New Manhattan,
Monstropolis depicts a world where monsters and humans coexist peacefully side-by-side,
day-by-day, or do they? Someone is leaving a trail of dead monsters behind, and
it is up to one disgraced detective to put an end to it, or die trying.
Although this sounds eerily
reminiscent of Fables, and there for of Once Upon A Time, which also airs on
ABC, Monstropolis could yield some results as long as it is written as a dark and
serious crime drama, and not as some generic police show intended for all audiences.
