With money yet to be
made, Disney throws caution to the wind and
added yet another project, the 1963 The Sword in the Stone, to the
growing list of live-action adaptations based on previously released animated
features, which already counts with sequels to Maleficent, and Alice in
Wonderland, as well as an Aladdin spinoff, The
Jungle Book, Winnie the Pooh, Beauty
and the Beast, Mulan, Tinker Bell, Dumbo, and Fantasia‘s Night on Bald Mountain.
HBO's
Game of Thrones writer and producer Bryan Cogman has been tapped by the studio
to write the adaptation of the last film released before Walt Disney's death,
which was loosely based on T.H. White's novel of the same name that later
became part of the author's series of Arthurian fantasy books, The Once and Future
King.
Cogman
is currently busy adapting the fantasy card game Magic: The Gathering for Fox.
