After almost six
years spent in development hell, the live action adaptation of Masamune
Shirow's manga, Ghost in the Shell is finally moving forward with Snow White
and the Huntsman director Rupert Sanders attached to direct Scarlett Johansson in
the project.
While speaking to
Collider at the Avengers: Age of Ultron press junket, Johansson offered an
update on the project, and revealed that principal photography will start early
next year.
It’s happening. It
will be shooting the beginning of next year, so I think we start production
January or February and it’s me and Rupert [Sanders]; and that’s all I know.
Depending on how
close to the source material the film will be, there is still plenty of casting
to be done, so expect to hear more on that end in coming months.
