The adaptation of Ubisoft's flagship video game, Splinter Cell starring Tom
Hardy just took a step backwards. According to the Tracking Board, director
Doug Liman (Edge of Tomorrow) has left the project for a yet unknown reason.
Can't say I was eagerly awaiting for the adaptation, and I can't say I'm
excited with the director producers are eyeing. It seems that Joseph Kahn is
being considered to replace Liman in charge of the adaptation.
Kahn is primarily a music video director, who recently made headlines after
directing the gritty Power/Rangers short. None of those things are
disqualifiers for me, but his two feature films are. In 2004 Kahn directed the
motorbike centric Torque to disastrous results, and in 2011 the director
decided to take another stab at feature films with the unremarkable but slightly
better Detention.
