Focus Features has
released the first trailer for director Tarsem Singh's (The Cell, Immortals,
Mirror Mirror) psychological sci-fi thriller Self/Less starring Ben Kingsley as
a dying man who decides to transfer his consciousness into a younger body (Ryan
Reynolds). All seems to be going great until he starts to remember his previous
life.
The trailer looks great,
the premise sounds interesting, and the cast is solid, however I'm lowering in light
of recent studio sci-fi blunders like Transcendence or Lucy.
Opening on July 31st,
Self/Less also stars Matthew Good, Michelle Dockery, Victor Garber, Natalie
Martinez, Derek Luke, and Sam Page.
In this provocative psychological science fiction thriller, an extremely
wealthy man (Academy Award® Winner Ben Kingsley) dying from cancer undergoes a
radical medical procedure that transfers his consciousness into the body of a
healthy young man (Ryan Reynolds). But all is not as it seems when he starts to
uncover the mystery of the body’s origin and the organization that will kill to
protect its cause.
