After some speculation on whether Captain America: The Winter Soldier
directors Joe and Anthony Russo would replace fellow director Joss Whedon at
the head of the Avengers franchise, it seems that both directors are finally
set to helm the recurring assembling of Marvel's Cinematic Universe.
According with Badass Digest the Russo brothers have just closed the deal
to direct Avengers: Infinity War Part 1 (May 4, 2018), and Avengers: Infinity
War Part 2 (May 3, 2019).
Furthermore the news outlet reveals that screenwriters Christopher Markus,
and Stephen McFeely, the scribes behind Captain America: The First Avenger,
Captain America: The Winter Soldier, Captain America: Civil War, Thor: The Dark
World, and one of the driving forces behind ABC's Agent Carter, are in talks to
pen the screenplay for both movies.
They also add that Captain America: Civil War will be very closely tied to
the upcoming Infinity War double feature, so it makes sense that all those
involved with it would jump to the new franchise.
This further confirms earlier reports that Whedon is indeed backing down
from the Marvel Cinematic Universe, or at the very least from the Avengers.
