Last night after winning the best actor award at the Empire Awards for his
role in director Matt Reeves' Dawn of the Planet of the Apes, Andy Serkis spoke
about some of the little projects he has coming up such as Joss Whedon's
Avengers: Age of Ultron, J.J. Abrams Star Wars: The Force Awakens, and his very
own adaptation of Rudyard Kipling's novel, The Jungle Book.
The actor began by giving an update on The Jungle Book adaptation, which he
says is going great and has hit the halfway mark. Though he's making his
directorial debut with the adaptation, this is not the first time the actor has
sat behind the camera, as he was the second unit director on both three films
from The Hobbit trilogy.
The Jungle Book stars Benedict Cumberbatch, Cate Blanchett, Christian Bale,
Naomie Harris, Serkis, Jack Reynor, Eddie Marsan, Tom Hollander, Peter Mullan,
and Rohan Chand.
Serkis also spoke of his Marvel Cinematic Universe debut, and confirmed
what we already knew, that he's playing Ulysses Klaw in Joss Whedon's Avengers:
Age of Ultron. The actor also added that he has a small role in the film, and
that he's unaware if the character will be in the upcoming Black Panther film
even if Klaw is one of Black Panther's main antagonists.
Finally, the actor spoke of J.J. Abrams' Star Wars: The Force Awakens, and essentially
said what other cast members have said of the film. It was great, and that you
can feel Abrams' passion for the material. Serkis also told a funny story about
the teaser and how everyone thought Benedict Cumberbatch was the one narrating
in and not him.
