Despite the acclaim it
received by both fans and critics alike at the time of its release, and the
cult status is has acquired since, producer Adi Shankar's Dredd failed to bring
in the money that would have light up the fuse for the sequel. There have been
countless campaigns to raise money for the sequel, stars Karl Urban and Olivia
Thirlby have expressed their desire to return, but things just aren't that
simple and as Shankar explains there are some hurdles one needs to overcome in
order to start a sequel.
Having executive
producer and producer titles in films like The Grey, Killing Them Softly, Lone
Survivor, The Voices, and A Walk Among the Tombstones, Shankar could be seen as
some other Hollywood executive. However, thanks to videos like the one above,
and his "Bootleg Universe", which counts with The Punisher: Dirty
Laundry, Venom: Truth in Journalism, the viral Power/Rangers, and the shortly
lived James Bond: In Service of Nothing, make Shankar anything but.
