According to The Hollywood Reporter,
comedian Melissa McCarthy is being eyed for the lead role in Paul Feig's
upcoming Ghostbusters reboot. It seems that the actress is in early talks, but given
that she has a tight tv and movie schedule, she may end up passing, however
both sides are hoping to work something out before principal photography
commences in June (rumored).
"The Ghostbusters reboot is
said to be an origin story of new characters who take up ghostbusting and not a
"hand off" movie from the original 1984 film (though there is a small
chance that surviving Busters Bill Murray, Dan Aykroyd and Ernie Hudson could
make cameo appearances)."
It was previously reported that
both Jennifer Lawrence and Rebel Wilson had spoken with the director about the
reboot, but it seems that neither is in the race for a role, Emma Stone on the
other hand seems to be "available" for one. In addition actresses
Jillian Bell (Workaholics), and Cecily Strong (Saturday Night Live) are
expected to meet with Feig.
What do you think of McCarthy leading
the Ghostbusters reboot?
