Little by little actress Judy
Greer is stepping into the big screen limelight thanks in part to
her roles in big summer blockbuster movies. In 2014, she was in disguise as the
Ape Cornelia in director Matt Reeves Dawn of the Planet of the Apes, this year
however the actress has more than a few tentpoles she will be starring in,
including Pixar's The Good Dinosaur, Disney's Tomorrowland, Universal's
Jurassic World, and Marvel's Ant-Man.
Speaking to IGN about Ant-Man,
Greer revealed that she was not familiar with the Marvel Universe, but that
after working on it, Ant-Man is now her favorite superhero, particularly
because of the actor playing him, Paul Ruidd.
"Paul is so awesome and
he’s so great in this role. This has been my first comic hero that I’ve really
researched and fallen for. I also think the Ant-Man origin story that we tell
in our movie is really beautiful and I think there’s something really real about
a man trying to better himself for his family."
Greer also revealed that “there was a lot of comedy on set and we did a lot of
comedic improv,” which is not surprising given the script was
re-written by Rudd and Anchorman, Adam McKay.
Set for release in the United States on July 17, 2015,
the film is directed by Peyton Reed (“Bring it On,” “The Break-Up”) and stars
Paul Rudd (“I Love You Man,” “Role Models”) as Scott Lang aka Ant-Man, and Michael
Douglas (“Behind The Candelabra,” “Wall Street”) as his mentor Dr. Hank Pym and
Evangeline Lilly (“The Hobbit: The Desolation of Smaug,” “Lost”) as Hope Van
Dyne, daughter of Hank Pym.
