The first piece of concept art from Jon Favreau's CG/live-action
adaptation of Rudyard Kipling's The Jungle Book has been unveiled. From a
script by Justin Marks (Street Fighter: The Legend of Chun-Li) Jungle Book
stars Neel Sethi as the live-action Mowgli, while in the animation department Scarlett
Johansson gives her voice to Kaa, Christopher Walken to King Louie, Bill Murray to Baloo,
Lupita Nyong'o to Rakcha, Idris Elba to Shere Khan, Ben Kingsley to Bagheera,
Giancarlo Esposito to Akela, and Emjay Anthony to Gray.
The Jungle Book is scheduled to open on October 9th,
2015 in the USA, and on October 16th of 2015 in the UK.
Warner Bros. version of the same tale has been
delayed. Set to be directed by Andy Serkis' Jungle Book: Origins was scheduled
to be released on October 21st, 2016, but will now open almost a year later on
October 6th, 2017. Cate Blanchett, Benedict Cumberbatch, Christian Bale, and
Naomi Harris will star in the performance-capture heavy film. Warner Bros. has
already filled the slot with Dean Devlin's environmental thriller Geostorm
starring Gerard Butler.
