By the end of Thor:
The Dark World Loki had taken the shape of Odin and was sitting on the throne
of Asgard, so it was pretty much a given that he would return for the third Thor
film, now titled Thor Ragnarok. However, it looks like Loki's presence will be
felt throughout more than just Ragnarok.
According to Digital
Spy, Loki will also return for Avengers: Infinity War Parts 1 and 2. The site
claims his return will come to be because of his scepter, which had one of the
Infinity Stones in it. The thing is, he doesn't have the scepter anymore,
Hydra's Baron von Strucker has it, so presumably an angry Thanos will order Loki
to retrieve the staff and the Tesseract in order to add it to his Infinity
Gauntlet.
As always take it
with a grain of salt as Marvel Studios President Kevin Feige didn't confirm
Loki's presence in anything after Ragnarok
Thor Ragnarok opens
on July 28, 2017, while Avengers: Infinity War Part 1 comes out in May 4, 2018
with Part 2 following roughly a year later on May 3, 2019.
