Yesterday Marvel asked the California Federal Court to
subpoena Google into delivering all information regarding those responsible for
the leaked trailer of the highly anticipated Avengers: Age of Ultron.
“YOU ARE COMMANDED to produce at the
time, date, and place set forth below the following documents, electronically
stored information, or objects, and to permit inspection, copying, testing, or
sampling of the material,” the
court told Google yesterday.
However it seems that Marvel's request was very wide, so the court decided to lay down some guidelines,
so now Google has to deliver “all identifying
information for the user ‘John Gazelle’ ” on November 18 in San Francisco. But
Marvel doesn’t get to reach as deep into Google as it wanted. Judge Richard
Wieking did not grant Marvel’s request to “permit entry onto the designated
premises, land, or other property possessed or controlled by you at the time,
date, and location set forth.”
This
isn't the first time a studio decided to pursue legal action against those that
leak stuff online, and most likely won't be the last.
