I loved
the 2012 Dredd starring Karl Urban in the titular role, and it was a shame that
it flew so under the radar and failed to connect with the mainstream audience.
Regardless
of how it performed in theaters, fans of the movie flocked together and began
campaigning for a sequel to be made, and while it might not be the cinematic
version everyone hoped it would be but (drum role) a seven part miniseries from
(in)famous producer Adi Shankar is coming for free next month.
There's
no word on whether Karl Urban or Olivia Thirlby will return, but Thomas Jane
did for the Punisher short, Dirty Laundry, so there is a possibility.
According to the Wrap, Shankar has been working in secret on this project in for almost two years.
"Since
Shankar’s unofficial “Dredd” project was done off-the-grid, it’s
technically a part of his popular Bootleg Universe, which includes the short
“Punisher: Dirty Laundry” starring Thomas Jane and Ron Perlman,
as well as “Venom: Truth in Journalism,” which starred Ryan Kwanten as
Spider-Man villain Eddie Brock."
I'm super
excited to see it, how about you?
