Although
Iron Man 3 is Marvel Studio's second biggest film after The Avengers, grossing over
$1.2 billion worldwide, the film star, Robert Downey Jr. is still flying under
the previous contract in which he only has one film left in the MCU, and that will be Avengers 3.
While speaking
to Variety about his new film, The Judge starring him and Robert Duvall, Downey
confirmed that there are no plans for another installment on the Iron Man
franchise.
"There
isn’t one in the pipe. No, there’s no plan for a fourth ‘Iron Man.'"
As for whether the actor would pass
on the armor to anyone else, he says that it isn't up to him.
"I
like that the idea is that it would be up to me, like I’m casting director for
Marvel," before his co-star in The Judge, Robert
Duvall told him, "Don’t
give it to anybody else."
If Marvel
decides not to do an Iron Man 4, I would be shocked, but pleased at the same
time, and it's not that I don't want another Iron Man film, it's just that I'm
more eager to see new heroes emerging like Black Panther, Ms. Marvel, Adam
Warlock (please), and so on.
What do
you think?
