Well
according to the Latino Review, yes. El Mayimbe latest scoop says that DC is
prepping the field for a possible Legion of Superheroes adaptation, and judging
by the comments of New Line's President, who said that Shazam is not a Justice
League character, therefore not in the same cinematic universe, then I'm
assuming that neither will this, since it's set in the 30th and 31st centuries.
"According to sources,
Warners is quietly sending out the DC comic book Legion Of Superheroes to
screenwriters & their reps for takes. For non-industry folks, what that
means is that screenwriters check out the comic book and come up for a movie
idea involving the characters from that comic. Those writers then go to the
studio to pitch their idea. The studio then hires the screenwriter they feel
has the best idea or take for the film." - El Mayimbe
If true, what
an odd choice, no? I mean they could have gone with Captain Atom, Doctor Fate,
Hawkgirl, Lobo, and others. Did Marvel's shot in the dark with an unknown space
property like Guardians of the Galaxy added that much pressure to Warner/DC?
What do
you think?
Otto
Binder and Al Plastino created the Legion of
Super-Heroes as well as creating the three founding members for the team.
Binder wrote the story and Plastino drew the art for Adventure
Comics #247 in 1958. Like many of Superboy's
stories in Adventure Comics, this issue was meant to be a one-shot story and
the Legion's only appearance. This issue was so popular that DC published a
second Legion story in Adventure
Comics #267 in 1959, which was also a success
with fans. The Legion of Super-Heroes eventually became a regular feature in
Action Comics, Adventure Comics and Superboy, which led to the Legion being
published in their own book.
