According
to TV Line, NYPD alum Henry Simmons has signed to appear in the
second season of Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. in the recurring role of
Alphonso “Mac” Mackenzie, “a mechanic in his early 30s”.
In
the comics Al Mackenzie is a veteran agent, who after a romantic
affair with Contessa Valentina “Val” Allegra di Fontaine become
estranged with Nick Fury. Mac also had some dealings with Jessica
Jones so there is some crossover potential between Agents and the
upcoming Marvel/Netflix show based on Jones.
Simmons
joins other cast newbies Kyle MacLachlan as Skye’s father, Reed
Diamond Daniel Whitehall, Nick Blood as Lance Hunter, Simon
Kassianides as Bakshi and Lucy Lawless as S.H.I.E.L.D. agent Isabel
Hartly.
