It was announced two days ago that Dead Hooker on a
Trunk and American Mary directors, Jen and Sylvia Soska had been tapped to helm
the big screen adaptation of Painkiller Jane. Now speaking to the guys over at
Crave Online, the filmmakers teased what we can expect from the future
franchise.
"There's... a scene where
Jane's not wearing anything but bullets flying all around her, so no punches
are going to be pulled in this movie," they said, before adding, "It was like watching 'The Heat' on steroids when I read this
script."
They went on to tease that they have big plans for the
franchise.
"Without
spoilers I think we're going to go and do a lot with that franchise. So you're
going to see a lot of Jane and story fully developed. How long has it been
since we've had a kick-ass female?"
Jane centers on the titular
heroine, a cop, who, along with with her best friend and partner, goes
undercover into an interconnected drug ring. When Jane’s identity is
exposed, her subsequent torture leaves her with preternatural regenerating
abilities and a high tolerance for pain.
