Roberto Orci Drops Out From The Amazing Spider-Man 3?

A few months ago, news came out that screenwriting "wonder"-team Roberto Orci and Alex Kurtzman, who worked together on such franchises as the new Star Trek, Transformers and Amazing Spider-Man, had decided to part ways.

Although no longer a team, Kurtzman found himself attached to direct the Amazing Spider-Man spin-off, Venom, and Orci managed to get Star Trek 3 as his directorial debut, which comes into play when considering the future of Spideys franchise.

"I don't know what their plans are for that franchise," said Orci when asked if he could return to the franchise after confirming earlier reports that he won't be back for The Amazing Spider-Man 3.

"I don't ever want to say never, but we have to figure out what their scheduling is in terms of when they want each movie. I've read probably as much as anyone else. There's a love for the Sinister Six, the idea of Venom -- there's an idea of Spider-Man's going to be one of these characters that's part of our business. He's such a popular character. Spider-Man's not going to go away any time soon. When it all happens and how and all that has yet to be determined."

Vague to say the least, which makes me wonder what are the plans for The Amazing Spider-Man 3 and 4, and while I'm at it, both spin-offs?

The fact that one of the lead, or credited writers on the film doesn't know when the next installment is coming out is a big worry, especially in these money making franchises, where you want the next one to come out as soon as possible.

The truth is that despite the $700 million plus that the movie made, it was one of the worst Spider-Man movies ever, and although studios don't usually care much about reviews and such, this poor thing just got slammed, and rightfully so.

Maybe the studio decided to go back onto the drawing board with some new talent?
