After penning the initial draft of the script for the
Independence Day sequel, director Roland Emmerich and producer Dean Devlin, delivered
the script to Emmerich's White House Down scribe James Vanderbilt for the final
touch ups.
Now according to Deadline, 20th Century Fox has tapped
writer Carter Blanchard to pen a new draft of the script, while Emmerich works
on his gay rights period drama, Stonewall.
Blanchard recently wrote a draft for the video game
adaptation of Spy Hunter, sold his spec script, Glimmer to DreamWorks, and is currently
adapting Mark Millar's comic, Kindergarten Heroes.
Independence Day 2: Age of the Dawn of the Five v Armies
VII....... just kidding, the yet Untitled Independence Day sequel is set to
open on July 1st 2016.
