Director
Edgar Wright and Marvel Studios have announced that the director has left the
Ant-Man project due to creative differences.
“Marvel and Edgar Wright jointly announced today that
the studio and director have parted ways on Ant-Man due to differences in their
vision of the film. The decision to move on is amicable and does not impact the
release date on July 17, 2015. A new director will be announced shortly.”
Ant-Man has been in development
with Edgar Wright attached to direct since before Iron Man was release in 2008,
so it's strange that now, only a year from finally being release, it all comes
crumbling down.
This isn't the first time this
happen on a Marvel project. In 2011 Monster director Patty Jenkins left Thor 2,
which end up being directed by Alan Taylor.
Ant-Man stars Paul Rudd,
Michael Douglas, Patrick Wilson and Matt Gerald. Evangeline Lilly, Corey Stoll,
Michael Peña, and Clifton Collins Jr. are reportedly in talks.
Ant-Man opens on July 17,
2015.
