Last year IDW announced that they were going to build an Entertainment division
to start producing their content. Today IDW Entertainment announced a new partnership
with George Lopez's Travieso Production Company to bring Ben Templesmith's comic
series Wormwood: Gentleman Corpse to tv as an animated series.
The Simpsons' David M. Stern will write the pilot and act as executive
producer, while Templesmith serve as the creative consultant.
"We have assembled an incredible creative team
with David M. Stern, George Lopez and Circle of Confusion, which will help
bring Wormwood to life as a fun animated television series," said David
Ozer, President of IDW Entertainment.
"George Lopez is a comic genius and Ben's graphic novels are epic horror comedy. Building this universe is going to be like a dream. Or maybe more like a super fun nightmare," said David M. Stern.
"It's not often I can produce a series about an inter-dimensional worm. I am thrilled to be working with such a great creative team on this clever combination of comedy and horror," said George Lopez.

IDW describes the comic series as:
Meet Wormwood, the English-accented,
beer-drinking, sentient-corpse-possessing maggot expat from the Hell
dimension. Well, one of them. If he's not attempting to save Earth from
demonic, parasitic fungal infections or undead strippers, then he's off
drinking with his homemade mechanical sidekick, Mr. Pendulum.
