A few weeks ago i reported that director J.J. Abrams
was looking to shoot some scenes of the upcoming Star Wars: Episode VII in Morocco
and Tunisia, i.e. Tatooine, but now however, it seems that a new location has
been chosen to stand in for Tatooine, as a four week shooting is being
scheduled for Abu Dhabi.
THR is hearing that Star Wars: Episode VII will shoot
in and around Abu Dhabi. The change of location is due to the hot political
climate being felt in Tunisia, so the studio decided to change locations.
Of course because this is a J.J. Abrams film,
everything single information is being very closely guarded and official
confirmations will only come when every piece is set and even then...
Mark Hamill, Harrison Ford, and Carrie Fisher are at
this point (un)officially confirmed to return, as is Peter Mayhew.
Star Wars: Episode
VII opens on December 18th, 2015.
