Back
in February fans of the MCU (Marvel Cinematic Universe) got a pleasant surprise
when Marvel announced that Vision was going to be appearing in the upcoming Avengers:
Age of Ultron. The news then got a bit "strange" when they also
announced that actor Paul Bettany, who gives his voice to J.A.R.V.I.S. in the
Iron Man franchise, was going to play him.
In
a recent appearance on Jimmy Kimmel Live the actor ever so briefly talked about
the character and the fact that Johnny Depp as a private island (just so you know).
"Oh
I can do all sorts of things, but I'm not allowed to really talk about them
and what we're going to do because there might be a Marvel agent in the
room who will actually wrestle me to the ground and fire me…It's very exciting for me, but everything is a
double edged sword, right?
Because I was playing J.A.R.V.I.S. for years and my job was i would turn up at
a recording studio for 45 minutes, do all my stuff, and then they would give ma
huge bag of cash and then I'd go home. Now it turns out they've found me out
and they want me to actually do something!"
As
Bettany points out, Marvel and director Joss Whedon probably picked out some of
the superpowers that Vision will display on screen, so because we don't know which
powers we will be seeing here is a list of what the Vision can do.
The
Vision is an android created by Ultron to fight the Avengers but that ends up
ultimately betraying his creator and joining Earth’s Mightiest Heroes. Like
Ultron Vision has a many powers and abilities, like generate holograms to
better fit in, energy manipulation, superhearing, optical scanners, vocal
manipulation, superhuman stamina, superhuman reflexes, solar radiation absorption,
energy beams, density alteration, superhuman durability, super strength,
ability to fly, physical disruption (by using his density alteration he can let
objects, people, etc… pass straight through him and has they pass he changes
back to his dense form causing extreme damage to the interior of the object,
person, etc…), superhuman intelligence and because he is essentially a
self-aware android he can connect his brain to other machines.
Currently
in production, Avengers: Age of
Ultron stars Robert Downey Jr. as Tony Stark/Iron Man, Chris Hemsworth as Thor,
Chris Evans as Captain America, Scarlett Johansson as Black Widow, Mark Ruffalo
as Hulk, Jeremy Renner as Hawkeye, James Spader as Ultron, Thomas Kretschmann
as Baron Strucker, Aaron Taylor-Johnson as Quicksilver, Elizabeth Olsen as
Scarlet Witch, Cobie Smulders as Agent Maria Hill and Paul Bettany as Vision
and Samuel L. Jackson as Nick Fury and opens on May 1st, 2015.
